If you are very conversant with the latest happening in the Yoruba movie industry, you will agree with us that Titobi Olorun, where Femi Adebayo played the lead character is a movie everyone is talking about in and outside the industry at the moment. However, the producer of the much advertised flick, Okiki Afolayan, who is also a big time movie director, has disclosed to YorubaMovieGist.com the challenges he went through before the shooting could be a success.
According to him, “The story is all about an actor, who so much believed in himself and thinking he was on top of the world, confident that nobody could bring him down again not even God, who created him. He was so full of himself and where he thought God would emerge was not where God showed up. He is the Alfa and Omega and that is why I called Him.
TITOBI OLORUN. When I first narrated the story to Femi Adebayo, he asked where I got the notion from. He said he had not come across such a wonderful concept ever since he had been acting and producing. I was supposed to use his name before, but he asked me to wait just to give me a feedback if he was going to do the role or not. He was the only person delaying the shooting then and he was the only actor I saw who can perfectly play the role. After some months, he called me to change the name that he was ready to play the role. Though, the money he collected from me was much because the role was just too challenging, but I paid because it was not an easy task. While we were shooting, Aunty Fathia Balogun asked him again why he later agreed to play the role and he said it was because of the love he had for Okiki Afolayan.
On why he shot this kind of concept, Okiki narrated further that It’s been long since the produced and the last job he produced was AINA BASEJE. “I needed to be more creative than my last job. So I have to go deeper than before just to beat my last production. Titobi Olorun isn’t a true life story, but it is a concept I gathered from an actor, who I cannot reveal his name.
I saw the way the person behaved at times and the concept hit me, tacitly saying this will be cool if we make it in a movie story. “I want to do something that if the actor in question sees the movie, he/she will amend his/her way. I don’t want to say that the person is a man or a woman. The flick will have more than enough impacts on our society because the film is not for actors alone. It is for anybody who has forgotten that God is the one behind everything and we need to serve. Him no matter our position. The likes of Femi Adebayo, Fathia Balogun, Yinka Quadri, Adebayo Tijani, Kemi Korede, Jamiu Azeez, Azeez Ijaduade and many others will feature in it. Just watch out”, Okiki explained.
