Right now, there is a strong indication that talented Onibiyo is set to storm location for the shooting of another movie titled ‘Obuko’, another touching story that will rule your TV screen soon. In this exclusive interview with her, the mother of one told www.yorubamoviegist.com how 2017 has favoured her among other interesting issues you will love to know about her. Enjoy the excerpts:
What can you say about 2017?
The year has been so good to me. It’s one of the best years I will always pray to witness in life. This is because I have been able to high my game in the industry in 2017.
Can you expatiate more?
In 2017, I have been able to produce 2 big movies which i titled one of them Iwalewa. It was released in July by Corporate Pictures, while the other one is named MamaRazzy and it will be released soon. But before then, I shot Aolat which was released in December 2016, and the blockbuster movie opened doors for me in 2017. Since then, I have been featuring in not just anyhow movies but hit movies as lead a character. One of which is Olayinka Erujeje, Ituka Alayo, Osunseyifunmi, and the grandmother of all, Boundary of Love (AALAIFE) written and produced by popular Nigerian Journalist, Gbolahan Adetayo.
What makes AALAIFE the grandmother of all?
Why I named it the grandmother of all is the fact that the story line is very tight and my character in that movie was very tough. I never saw myself in that character before, how I was able to play the role is still yet to be known to me even till now. There are lots of moral lessons to be learnt in the flick. I wish the film, producer and the marketer best of luck. My Fans should just watch out for another Ayonimofe Onibiyo in another dimension.
Now that you are playing lead roles in movies, should we accede that you have made huge amount of money in 2017
Well, glory be to God for his mercies on me and my household. I wouldn’t want to blow my trumpet but I know God has been so wonderful to me. The biggest money I ever received in acting came in 2017 .
How much and how did you feel about it?
Well, like I said earlier that I wouldn’t want to blow my trumpet, the money was much to some extent as an upcoming actor and I felt so good about it. I was like am I dreaming or did I win lottery. Unlike others who faces a lot of challenges in times of accommodation, feedings and all that in location. I thank God for where I’m coming from, where I am and where he is still taking me to.
We learnt that your marriage got crashed in 2017, how factual is that?
I don’t want to talk about it on the pages of newspaper but all I have to say is that my marriage is still intact.
What are the challenges you faced in the year?
There are lots of challenges, starting with you leaving your family for days to appear at movie locations, especially when you have to travel to a far distance. Firstly, I will miss my daughter and every member of the family. Others are the regular task we are all crying about in Nigeria in times of electricity, bad roads, and of course the recession.
After Aolat, how do you now cope with your male Fans?
It is a normal thing for a man to give it a trial in wooing a woman but is now left to that lady to either accept or not. It is not a do or die affair. After my role in Aolat, I got a lot of followers and Fans who asked me out but I made them understand that I’m married with a beautiful daughter, which they reasoned with me. Some of them later became friends.
What should your fans be expecting from you in 2018?
To God be the glory, I have a lot of goodies in my bag for my beautiful and loyal Fans, who have been supporting me from day one of my career, and those who will join the moving train soon. MamaRazzy is coming out in 2018, Obuko, Mayomide and others are also in the making. Just as you all know that I always churn out fantastic movies from my stable, my fans should keep their fingers cross.
