The lovers of the Yoruba movie industry are now ready to watch yet another good talent as Funsho Ogunleye has finally dumped his Telecommunication job to go into acting. Funsho started his career as a Stage actor in 2004 at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, where he studied Political Science and he reigned as the best actor throughout his years in the institution. He was in the same department and class with Yoruba movie Star Actress, Tayo Sobola.
According to him, whenever any anniversary was to hold in his church, club or department, he and a friend named Tolu would request to play jesters, and the request was always granted. He would then write a “script” for a comedy play involving just two characters (him and his friend). That was how it all began for this professional stage actor.
Ogunleye has featured in more than 100 stage plays across Africa. He had a few stint on the corporate world as a business development executive with the defunct network service provider, Etisalat, but couldn’t handle the pressure and demand from his fans.
He had starred, scripted, produced and directed several stage plays over the years. He is set to launch an entry into the cinema movie industry as he’s currently working with Nigeria’s top movie producer, Okiki Afolayan.
