Veteran Yoruba Actress, Ayo Adesanya who joined the movie industry over 2 decades ago has revealed to the public what fast rising Yoruba actresses needs to engage themselves in if they really wants to be successful in the business.![images]()
The Ijagun,Ijebu, Ogun State-born thespian explained this recently, precisely on November 11th 2016 at the White Hotel, Ikeja Lagos when she was deliverying her speech at the 2016 edition of City People’s an evening with upcoming Yoruba actresses, an annual programme set up to celebrate upcoming Yoruba actresses yearly.
This year’s edition was organized with lecture, and the topic was tagged “How To Succeed As An Actor” where she was appointed as one of the guest speakers.
In her statement, Ayo mentioned that “though, everything in life requires education so as to enable you communicate better in the society but you don’t need too much education before you go into acting. Education allows you to all your products (acting). There is no need of denying the fact that the movie industry is very competitive but one thing that stands you out and keep you moving is your uniqueness. To stay relevant, you must be able to communicate globally and that’s exactly what you need to succeed in the Yoruba movie industry. ![images]()
All you need is how to read and write. You must persever and parsistent. At a point in my acting career, I was absence for a while, but God gave me a second chance which is very rare. As an actor, you need to be consistent because the industry doesn’t allowed you going off and on the scene. If you try that, your competitors will hidjack the lead from you because the sky is wide for many birds to fly and Nigerians don’t remember those who were there yesterday, they focus more on present tense not the past tense. Sometimes you feel frustrated while in the job. You must be able to make a different because the industry is already flooded. One thing that is very important before you can legally make it to the top in the industry is to locate your strength but many upcoming actresses don’t know about this.

She decried the level of pride and pomposity that have characterised the industry as most upcoming actors now see themselves as equalequals to veterans who have paid their dues in the industry over the years. She added that any upcoming actor who wants to grow to the level of veteran must wear a garment of humility and meekness.
