Come Friday May 27th 2016, the City of Ilorin, Kwara State will play a host to who is who in the Yoruba movie industry as top actor cum the newly appointed Special Adviser to the state governor on Arts, Culture and Tourism, Femi Adebayo holds a command stage play tagged: Asa Wa (Our Culture) to showcase the Kwara Culture Heritages to the world and attract domestic and foreign investors to the subsector.images
The command stage play, we learnt, is a joint performance of more than  20 top Nollywood stars and other highly talented artistes for  the Kwara state Council for Arts and Culture.
The event takes place on Friday, 27th May, 2016 at the Banquet Hall, opposite Kwara State Government House, Ilorin by 4pm. Some of the movie stars to perform at the event include Yinka Quadri, Bimbo Oshin, Odunlade Adekola, Muyiwa Ademola, Fathia Balogun, Lasun Ray, Dotun Taylor,Sanyi, Kamilu Kompo, Lateef Adedimeji, Flakky Ididowo, Aisha Lawal and many more.

IMG_3001Saturday 7th May 2016 will forever remain in the minds of those who were at the Customs training ground, Ikeja Lagos when the Nigerian showbiz stars, socialites as well as ex-international soccer stars stormed the premises for the 20th anniversary of a renowned Lagos football club known as Belle United under the leadership of Humphrey Okoh.  The club, established in 1996 celebrated its anniversary on the 6th and 7th of May. A key plank of the celebration was to establish a charity to support children.

The members of the club selected the pediatric division of LASUTH and visited the children’s ward of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos on Friday of the week to donate money and some hospital materials including 50 Bedsheets and Pillow cases alongside numbers of hospital equipment.IMG_20160523_171030
On 7th May, the Thanksgiving service was held at the Nigerian Customs Interdenominational Christian Fellowship Chapel, Ikeja Lagos before the anniversary novelty match between the club and All Star International of Surulere followed immediately at the Customs’ College Training Ground and the game ended in 1-1. Shortly after that, the reception kicks off where top Nigerian celebraties and some members if the club mounted the stage to thrill guests.

It was really a fun moment for the presenters of the wave-making Yoruba TV station on Star Time, Orisun TV owned by Femi Aderibigbe aka Kwamen when the station stormed Agodi Garden, Ibadan, Oyo State with its presenters to rebrand the organization. IMG-20160513-WA0009Yorubamoviegist.com  learnt that the station was rebranding which prompted the idea of storming a tourist center to shoot videos and photographs of the anchors of all the station’s programmes outside studio. IMG-20160513-WA0007The programmes include Miliki Express, Owambe Extra, Bonselo, Aki Yin,Eji Owro, Sinema Mewa, Ilera Loro,Isembaye, Ogo Igbala, Eto Baba Eto, Ojuri, Iroyin and many others. Fast-rising actress, Omodolapo Obembe has revealed how her mum prevented her from acting while she was still school.IMG-20160518-WA0001
The Ilesa  Osun State-born actress disclosed that while she was on the campus of the Osun State Polytechnic studying Computer Science, her mum blocked her access to attend stage play rehearsals and any activity that has to do with acting because she believed she couldn’t combine both at the same simultaneously.
In her words, “Acting is what I have passion for right from my childhood days and in the first year of my incursion into the world of movies; I went through hell because my mum didn’t allow me to combine studies with acting.

She was always saying one has to wait for the other and after the completion of my National Diploma, I decided to fully go into it and that is about four years ago.”
Speaking further, Dolapo, who has acted alongside some of the big names in the movie industry including Toyin Aimakhu, Ricardo Agbor, Wale Akorede aka Okunnu, Olaniyi Afonja aka Sayenri, Adeniyi Johnson, Toyin Afolayan, Yinka Quadri, Akin Lewis, Ayo Olaiya and Murphy Afolabi amongst others said, “After a while, I was able to convinced my mum to  believe in my ability to combine studies and acting and it was really challenging and stressful.
I remember I had to go to rehearsal every weekend from Osun state to Lagos and I came back every Monday to continue schooling. But thank God it was all worth it.”
It will interest you to know that the damsel has starred in movies that include ‘Omo Eko’, ‘Oruka Aje’, ‘Saloko Alagbe’, ‘Afefe,’ ‘Iku Ile,’ ‘Farida’ and ‘Darasimi.’

The birthday ceremony took place last week with his colleagues, friends and officials of Nigerian Breweries during the Nollywood Beer Academy, sponsored by Nigerian Breweries Plc, in Ibadan, Oyo State. Edem Vindah, Corporate Media/Brand PR Manager, NB Plc, explained that the brand is proud of Yemi Blaq because he represents Gulder’s ideals of the “real man who is responsible, hardworking, demonstrates leadership and respect for others.”
Gulder, Edem added, stands for the ultimate sign of achievement, masculinity, respect, self-assurance and success and also a premium quality beer for young success conscious men and women

Blaq was born and raised in a family of four siblings in Ondo state Nigeria and grew up knowing he was going to go into the arts.
From his primary school days, he got a lot of encouragement and support. After he played the role of the incorruptible judge in Olu Olagoke’s ‘The Incorruptible Judge’, his teacher came home and said to his mum, ‘oh this one is going to become an actor. Since then he has nurtured it up.
“I always wanted to act, I always loved acting. I used to act back in my days in school I studied theatre arts in school. I travelled and after I came back I joined the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN),” he said.
Yemi believes he was one of the lucky ones because he got into the industry when everyone said it was a bit tough. He was in it for about five or six months auditioning for roles, and talking to people for opportunities. Then he ran into a really large big audition which turned out to be a grand encounter.
“My first experience on set was with Obi Osotule and Mathias Agbo in Benin city. They were shooting this movie, ‘The Unseen Eyes’ and I had gone there to just flex my acting muscles. I got on set with the rest of the people who came for the audition and we started reading,” Blaq said.
‘Lost to Lust’ was the movie that gave him a breakthrough, being his first lead role movie with Mercy Johnson. “It came out successful and since then every director and producer want me to work for them. Because in the industry if you are good, people tend to look for you, to utilize your talent “he said.
After his breakthrough with ‘Lost to lust’ directors and filmmakers started calling upon him to feature in movies.

Even for the sake of your son that looks so much like his father?

Please, my son looks like me. He is my replica. So, stop saying otherwise.
When do you intend giving marriage another shot?

I don’t know. Anything can happen. But why not, indeed marriage is a beautiful thing.
What lessons did you learn from your previous marriage?

I have learnt a lot with the experience. I learnt to take things easy. Most of the things I learnt will be applied in any new relationship that I’m going into. I will also make sure I check out some qualities in that man before I go into relationship with him.
What makes you happy?

Peace! I love peace! I love when everything and everyone is at peace, it gives me extra joy. My family at peace, my friends at peace, I’m at peace, then I’m as happy as a bird.
Are you saying you lacked peace in your former marriage?

I didn’t say that oh! But I like peace a lot. When there’s no peace but troubles around me, I run.

Have you ever sighted Governor Akinwunmi Ambode official Convoy and grin with envy how he has been able to walk around freely without siren and still have a hitch free movement? downloadWell in case you don’t know, there are some competent LASTMA officials who are working behind the scene to make sure that the Executive Governor of a metropolitan state like Lagos can walk freely without the use of Siren. They are called the LASTMA GOV.
They are group of competent LASTMA officials, who are not just highly educated, they knows the nitty-gritty of Lagos Traffic. Though many LASTMA officials may have been backlash couple of times, but when this magazine sighted this LASTMA GOV at work few weeks ago when RCCG had their monthly convention which took  titled `Victorious Grace`. Not many will forget the huge truck which blocked the entrance leading into Redeem camp and many Redeemers had to follow Asese route to enter RCCG camp. A closer look we saw one young LASTMA official with tag name Alausa Rasak who was given others and directing traffic even outside Lagos while many of the road users beam with smile as he does that which he knows how to do best.
We have always viewed the Lagos State Traffic Management (LASTMA) body as a not so important an organization that ought to be scrapped, but was forced to make a rethink when I saw them in the convoy of the Governor of Lagos state along Marina road and then at Ikeja few weeks ago. The many beautiful scenes of the Hollywood movie was replayed live on that day, we spotted PILOT 1 in the traffic in the most civil conduct. We noticed the professionalism with which the LASTMA Officials leading the convoy cleared the road. We heard them addressed the public from the Public Address System in their vehicle in the most humble manner so as to pave way for the Governor.
